HTPC up and running
After my first message about building a HTPC it’s gotten a bit quiet about the project. Well no more, I recentely finnished building and installing the HTPC. And it’s working like a charm, for the most part that is.
In the last message I described which hardware I picked for the HTPC. More in detail I gave details about the CPU, motherboard and casing I choose. Well let me say that I made the right choices. The cpu holds enoug power to do basically any job. The casing is as silent as hell and the motherboard has got everything you could ever need on board. (Not much in gaming but I didn’t choose it for that)
Starting a home improvement
You will probably start noticing that the amount of posts will go down a bit for the next couple of weeks. Don’t worry it’s got nothing to do with you’all. I’ll just be busy with some remodeling in the appartment I recently purchased.
I’ll soon write an update on my HTPC project. I’ve finnished the assembly process some days ago, so I know have all the information to continue the article.
Also I’d like to know what you would like to see more off on this website. So if you have some thoughts on that leave a message below.
First steps towards a HTPC
I finally decided that it was time to build a media center a couple of weeks ago. In this relative short post I’ll describe the first things to after making this decision.
For me it was quite easy. To start my new quest 
I first decided to look at buying an assembled HTPC or building one myself. Wasn’t a hard decision looking at the prices. The cheapest HTPC’s I could find where around 1.6oo euros. Yikes.
So in short I will build the HTPC myself. This has to be cheaper :). So first my wish list:
- It has to be able to play DVD / CD
- Must be relatively small (which limits the casing)
- Quick enough to decode HDTV and X-264 on the fly
- Silent, silent and oh yeah silent
- Be able to play DVB-C, which means digital cable
